Calea Zacatechichi (Calea ternifolia) is a flowering plant native to Mexico and Central America commonly known as Mexican Dream Herb or simply Calea. As a bitter herb, it is used by the natives as an herbal remedy for intestinal complaints as well as a powerful oneirogen, or dream inducer. The Chontal shamans of Oaxaca call this plant Thle-Pela-Kano, or Leaf of God, and use it during their vision quests as a divinatory tool as they believe it "clarifies the senses", making them more receptive to receiving the information they need.
