Sitagliptin is a new type of anti-type II diabetes drug approved by the FDA and the first dipeptidyl peptidase-IV inhibitor drug for the treatment of type II diabetes. The mechanism of action of sitagliptin is different from the previous oral hypoglycemic drugs. It controls the blood sugar level of diabetic patients by improving the insuln-producing ability of the pancreatic beta cells of diabetic patients and increasing the secretion of insuln when blood sugar rises. Clinical studies have shown that sitagliptin is an effective oral drug with good market prospects. It has a significant hypoglycemic effect when used alone or in combination with metformin and pioglitazone, and is safe, well tolerated, and has few adverse reactions.

Sitagliptin is an oral antihyperglycemic of the dipeptidyl peptidase-4  inhibitor class.
