Tertbutylhydroquinone is an effective antioxidant. In food, tert butyl hydroquinone is used as an antioxidant of vegetable oil and a variety of edible animal fats. It will not change color when meeting iron, nor will it change the taste or smell of food. It can also be used with other preservatives such as butyl hydroxyanisole (BHA).
