Gamma oryzanol is a mixture of substances derived from rice bran oil, including sterols and ferulic acid. It has been approved in Japan for several conditions, including menopausal symptoms, mild anxiety, stomach upset, and high cholesterol. In the US, it is widely used as a sports supplement, as well as for reducing cholesterol. However, there is no meaningful evidence supporting the use of gamma oryzanol for any of these purposes.
Oryzol is a combination of ferulic acid and phytosterol, which can be extracted from rice bran oil, germ oil and other grain oils. Its appearance is white to white crystalline powder, tasteless, has a special fragrance, can dissolve in various oils, insoluble in water under heating. Oryzanol is often used to improve plant nerve function and endocrine regulation in clinical practice. In addition, it has many physiological effects such as anti-oxidation and anti-aging.
