Green tea extract is a kind of herbal derivative extracted from green tea (Camellia sinensis). It contains catechins (GTC). Green tea and its derivatives can be used as dietary supplements.
Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), also known as epigallocatechin-3-gallate, is the ester of epigallocatechin andgallic acid, and is a type of catechin. EGCG, the most abundant catechin in tea, is a polyphenol under basic research for its potential to affect human health and disease. EGCG is used in many dietary supplements.
EGCG is the main component of green tea polyphenols and is a catechin monomer isolated from tea leaves. Its highest amount is 40% -50%. At the same time, it has many properties superior to other catechins because of its 6 ortho-phenolic hydroxyl groups in its structure.
EGCG is a kind of component extracted from Chinese green tea. It is the primary active and water-soluble component of green tea, which has the highest content among the tea catechins.
