Rosiglitazone is a type of thiazolidinedione antidiabetics. Thiazolidinedione are agonists for peroxisome-proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPAR-γ). PPAR-γ receptors are ligand-activated nuclear transcription factors that modulate gene expression, lowering blood glucose primarily by increasing  sensitivity in peripheral tissues.
