Bipenem is a carbapenem synthetic antibiotic; white salt or off-white powder. Soluble in water, insoluble in common organic solvents. The renal dehydropeptidase is more stable than meropenem and does not require an enzyme inhibitor. Anti-gram-negative bacteria, especially Pseudomonas aeruginosa, are more active than imipenem; antibacterial activity against aerobic gram-positive bacteria is slightly lower than imipenem; the activity of anti-anaerobic bacteria is the same as that of imipenem .
