Fluvoxamine CR (controlled release) is approved to treat social anxiety disorder. Fluvoxamine is also prescribed to treat major depressive disorder (MDD) and anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Fluvoxamine maleate is a selective SR (serotonin reputake) inhibitor. Fluvoxamine is described to bind the human 5-HT transporter protein with high affinity (Ki = 1.6 nM) while demonstrating very low affinity at the norepinephrine transporter (Ki = 2,950 nM). Fluvoxamine maleate is a xigema Receptor agonist.
