Clindamycin is a semi-synthetic antibiotic with broad antibacterial spectrum and strong antibacterial activity. Streptococcus. It has active effects on pathogenic parasites such as Pneumocystis, Toxoplasma gondii and Plasmodium falciparum, and the adverse reactions are small. Clindamycin products currently used in clinic include Clindamycin Hydrochloride, Clindamycin Phosphate and Clindamycin Palmitate, of which Clindamycin Phosphate and Clindamycin Palmitate themselves are not antibacterial It has antibacterial and antiparasitic effects after being metabolized to clindamycin in the body. Clindamycin hydrochloride is a derivative of lincomycin. The antibacterial spectrum of clindamycin hydrochloride is wider than that of lincomycin, and its antibacterial activity is 4-8 times higher than that of lincomycin. It has antibacterial activity against Gram-positive aerobic bacteria, staphylococcus and streptococcus, and also has antibacterial activity against mycoplasma, chlamydia and a variety of anaerobic bacteria.
It is a common topical treatment for acne and can be useful against some methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections. The most severe common adverse effect of clindamycin is Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (the most frequent cause of pseudomembranous colitis). Although this side effect occurs with almost all antibiotics, including beta-lactam antibiotics, it is classically linked to clindamycin use.
