Description
|
A novel peripheral dopamine receptor antagonist that does not cross the blood-brain barrier; anti-emetic. Domperidone(Motilium) is a dopamine blocker and an antidopaminergic reagent.
|
1. Domperidone is used for the treatment of gastroparesis (especially diabetic gastro-light gastroparesis), which can eliminate the symptoms of gastric retention and shorten the gastric emptying time; patients with moderate to moderate functional dyspepsia It can completely eliminate or significantly reduce symptoms such as abdominal distention, epigastric pain, belching, early
satiety, nausea, and vomiting after meals.
2. Reflux gastroesophageal and esophageal diseases: Domperidone has a significant effect on reflux gastritis, but it is not very satisfactory for the efficacy of reflux esophagitis.
3. Peptic ulcer: Domperidone can be used as an adjunctive treatment for peptic ulcers (mainly gastric ulcers) to eliminate antral retention.
4. Nausea and vomiting caused by various reasons: (1) Nausea and vomiting after surgery and gynecological surgery.
(2)Gastrointestinal symptoms caused by antiparkinsonian drugs (such as Benzhexol, Hyoscyamine, etc.) and adverse reactions caused by dopamine receptor agonists (such as levodopa and bromocriptine).
(3) Vomiting caused by cytotoxic drugs (such as anticancer drugs). However, vomiting caused by potent nausea such as nitrogen mustard is only effective in less severe periods.
(4) Vomiting
caused by diseases of the digestive system (gastritis, hepatitis, pancreatitis, etc.).
(5) Nausea and vomiting caused by other diseases and examinations and treatment measures, such as migraine, dysmenorrhea, craniocerebral trauma, uremia, hemodialysis, gastroscopy, and radiation therapy.
6) Acute and persistent vomiting of children due to various reasons, such as infection,
postprandial (including reflux and vomiting) and so on.
5. Promote postpartum lactation
1-There is some evidence that domperidone has antiemetic activity. Domperidone is used, together with metoclopramide, cyclizine, and 5HT3 receptor antagonists (such as granisetron) in the treatment of nausea and vomiting.
2-It can be used in patients with Parkinson's disease because, unlike metoclopramide, domperidone does not cross the blood-brain barrier.
3-Domperidone has also been found effective in the treatment of gastroparesis, a stomach motility condition, and for paediatric gastroesophageal reflux (infant vomiting)
